FAIRFIELD — First Selectman Bill Gerber remains in intensive care following a complication from a second surgical procedure to remove a brain tumor, his family reports.
“Complications with Bill’s condition necessitate his remaining in the ICU. We’ve shared all of the good wishes sent his way. We ask for your continued respect for our privacy at this time. Thank you again for all of the messages of support sent to him and to us these past two weeks,” according to Jessica, John and Gillian Gerber
The Town of Fairfield continues to ask the public to keep the first selectman and his family in their thoughts during this time.
The first selectman underwent a successful follow-up surgical procedure related to an earlier surgery to remove a brain tumor, according to a Town of Fairfield spokesperson.
“His medical team is pleased with the outcome,” said Lisa Clair, Fairfield communications director, said at the time. “The process of recovery from this type of surgery is complex. He is continuing to rest and recover at Yale New Haven Hospital.”
Fellow Democrat Selectman Christine Vitale continues to fill in as acting first selectman as Gerber recovers.
