NORWALK – The previous home of Tony Angione’s Wilton Floor Covering has been sold to the owner of Darien Upholstery, according to the real estate agency involved in the sale.
Gus Papadopoulos, Darien Upholstery owner, has purchased 10 Broad St. for $600,000, or $193 per square foot, according to Bruce Wettenstein and Silvester Garza of Vidal/Wettenstein, which is a Westport-based commercial real estate firm.
Papadopoulos plans to use the 3,100-square-foot space for warehousing and storage of high-end fabrics for the design industry. Papadopoulos operates Darien Upholstery at 903 Post Road in Darien.
Tony Angione Sr. purchased Wilton Floor Covering in August 1975 from Earl Williams, who started the business in 1945. Wilton Floor Covering opened on Route 7 in Wilton and moved to to 10 Broad St. in 1948. For 35 years the Angione family has owned and operated Wilton Floor Covering. Chuck Angione who came into the business in 1976 had the goal of celebrating the family’s 50th year in business in 2025.
