HARTFORD – CVS Health Aetna continues its long-term, wind-down operation in the city as it announced 313 more jobs would be terminated from April 3-July 31, according to a letter filed with the state Department of Labor and Mayor Arunan Arulampalam.
The letter, dated Feb. 4, 2026, states the layoffs will mostly affect remote workers who work outside Connecticut in the company’s small group business segment. Only 17 who work at the 151 Farmington Ave. offices in Hartford will be laid off. All employees whose jobs have been terminated have been notified of their separation dates and that the separation will be permanent, the letter states.
CVS Health’s layoffs affect its 72 Aetna Medicare/Medicaid Program workers who work remotely outside of Connecticut, who are expected to lose their jobs starting Dec. 31. The layoffs are scheduled to take place between Dec. 31, 2025 and March 31, 2026, according to the notice that was also filed with Hartford Mayor Arunan Arulampalam on Oct. 17. The action is being taken because Aetna lost its contract for 2026. Those employees work remotely into the company’s 151 Farmington Ave. facility in Hartford.
The largest number of terminated workers are analysts, senior analysts and managers.
This round of layoffs is the largest at the company’s Hartford headquarters since the health care company laid off more than 400 in December 2024. (See related story.) At that time, the company had also terminated 2,900 nationwide in 2025.
