BRIDGEPORT – Bridgeport Hospital’s Heart & Vascular Center Wednesday unveiled a new state-of-the-art Electrophysiology (EP) Lab to diagnose and treat complex heart rhythm disorders.
Every year, millions of Americans experience arrhythmias, which are irregular heartbeats that can lead to stroke, heart failure or sudden cardiac death if left untreated.
The new EP Lab equips the hospital’s Heart & Vascular Center team with the advanced tools needed to pinpoint the source of these rhythm disturbances, help physicians identify exactly where irregular rhythms originate and how best to treat them through procedures like cardiac mapping, catheter ablation and pacemaker or defibrillator implantation.
“This level of accuracy and speed in diagnoses isn’t just an advancement in technology, it’s an advancement in patient safety, outcomes and quality of life,” said Dr. Samuel Hahn, section chief of cardiology at Bridgeport Hospital. “Simply put, this lab gives our patients access to the kind of lifesaving heart care they deserve, close to home.”
