Two of Fairfield County largest hospitals announced the first babies of 2026 early on the morning of Jan. 1.
At Bridgeport Hospital, Catia Lucia dos Santos and Daniel dos Santos Silva of Bridgeport welcomed their baby boy Davi dos Santos Silva at 1:45 a.m. on New Year’s Day. Davi weighed in at 6 pounds, 6.4 ounces and is 19.5 inches long. He joins his sibling, Lucas.
“It was the best gift to start the new year,” said Davi’s parents.
At Greenwich Hospital, Mazhar Khan and Salma Tahir from Shelton welcomed their first baby at 5:11 a.m. on Jan. 1. The newborn girl named Sakina weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces and measured 20 inches long.
“We are so excited to welcome our first baby just days after celebrating our 10-year wedding anniversary on Dec. 27,” Sakina’s parents told Greenwich Hospital.
The hospital staff extends heartfelt congratulations to the family and wishes them joy and health in the year ahead.
Both hospitals are part of the YaleNew Haven Health System.
