Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim has officially filed for reelection in 2027. The 66-year-old Democrat submitted his paperwork with the city clerk last week, Bridgeport Strong reports.
Ganim previously served as mayor in the 1990s and returned to office in 2015. If reelected, he would become the longest-serving mayor in the city’s history.
A campaign kickoff fundraiser has been announced for April 16 at Boca Oyster Bar, featuring Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont as a special guest.
Malta House to honor First County Bank Chair Granata
NORWALK – Malta House will hold its annual gala on Friday, May 8 at Woodway Country Club in Darien. Proceeds support the Norwalk-based organization’s mission for providing support services and independent living skills to pregnant and parenting mothers and their children.

A special tribute will be paid to Robert Granata, president of the First County Bank Foundation, and chair and CEO of the bank.
“First County Bank Foundation has been a remarkably loyal and generous partner to Malta House since 2013, demonstrating unwavering commitment to the mothers and babies we serve,” says Michael O’Rourke, founder and chairman of the board of Malta House. “We salute the Foundation’s unwavering dedication to supporting the critical issues of affordable housing, economic development and educational enrichment for the communities it serves throughout Fairfield County.”
Malta House is the only home in Fairfield County dedicated to serving pregnant and parenting mothers experiencing homelessness. Since its founding in 1998, Malta House has grown into a transformative ministry offering shelter, stability and hope for over 900 vulnerable mothers and their babies. Mothers receive counseling, financial education, and parental development followed by transitional and post-residential support.
“The Foundation marvels at the determination of Malta House as they work tirelessly to support much needed services to those in the community who are the most vulnerable,” Granata said. “The Bank’s board of directors, corporators and employees take pride in the annual support provided by the First County Bank Foundation.”

The Stairwell Space launches a 25-artist show starting April 18
BRIDGEPORT — The Stairwell Space will open Interwoven Perceptions, a group exhibition bringing together artists whose practices engage pattern, structure, and the careful articulation of space, on April 18 from 4-6 p.m.
Interwoven Perceptions explores practices built through accumulation, interconnection, and haptic attention. Through openwork, interlacing systems, and meticulous mark-making, the work trains the eye to register detail as a mode of perception rather than ornament.
Negative space, the cadence of warp and weft, and sustained acts of precision activate detail as a generative force — one that produces form, rhythm, and meaning. The exhibition positions intricacy not as embellishment, but as a connective system: an aesthetic and material logic that binds the visible and invisible.
