NEW HAVEN – Avelo Airlines will begin serving Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport from Tweed-New Haven Airport starting in May, the airline announced Thursday.

Avelo will start this nonstop route on May 15 with a twice-weekly service on Thursdays and Sundays utilizing Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft.
“Our move to O’Hare allows us to continue to share Avelo’s low fares, travel-friendly convenience and industry-leading reliability with our customers,” said Avelo Airlines Founder and CEO Andrew Levy. This new nonstop route also makes exploring everything the Windy City has to offer a seamless journey for visitors.”
Tweed CEO Michael Jones called Avelo’s decision a testament to the growth at the airport.
“The addition of nonstop service to Chicago O’Hare opens an exciting new chapter with continued connections directly to one of the most iconic cities in the country,” Jones said. “We’re thrilled to offer travelers direct access to Chicago O’Hare and all the opportunities it provides.”
Avelo previously served Chicago’s Midway International Airport seasonally.
Since taking flight on April 28, 2021, Avelo has flown more than 6.6 million customers on more than 53,000 flights. Today the airline serves 55 cities spanning 23 states and Puerto Rico, as well as four international destinations: Bahamas, Jamaica, Mexico and the Dominican Republic.
