DANBURY – Alpha Metalcraft Group has named a new general manager of its Commack, New York, facility.
Skip Williams, a manufacturing executive with 30 years of experience, will oversee and manage operations for AMG’s deep drawing division. He has worked for GE Aviation, Northrop Grumman, Tactronics, KONGSBERG and Leviton, where he served in several director and management positions.
“This was an opportunity to be closer to the shop floor,’’ Williams said. “It’s exciting to have the chance to make things happen in real-time.”
AMG’s state-of-the-art metal deep-drawn assemblies and components are used in electro-optical, guidance, detector, navigational, targeting, night vision, missile skins, cones and fuse assemblies. They are provided to some of the nation’s leading defense companies. AMG is also a global leader in the manufacturing of lead-lined X-ray tube housings for medical, dental and security applications.
Williams earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Massachusetts Lowell and a Master’s degree in manufacturing engineering from Boston University.
AMG’s facility in Commack employs more than 40 full-time workers and has been producing components since 1916. AMG acquired the business, Gasser & Sons, in 2018.
“This is an exciting time in the aerospace industry,’’ Williams said. “We’re focused on making good products and making customers happy. We’d like to take this facility to the next level by managing customer requirements, making new aerospace and X-ray imaging components and assemblies and striving to see how we can better serve those markets.”
Alpha Metalcraft Group, which is headquartered in Danbury, has manufacturing sites in Bethel, Danbury, and Commack.
