The Center for Family Justice in Bridgeport and Kids in Crisis in Greenwich have each received $100,000 grants from philanthropic organization Impact Fairfield County.
“Each year we continue to receive high quality proposals from organizations throughout Fairfield County focusing on the most pressing needs facing people in our community,” stated Impact FFC Co-President Vicki Craver. “Through the generosity of our 173-women membership, we have been able to address many of these needs through our Impact Grants. Our hope is that more women in the county join in our efforts and help increase this critical support.”
Impact FFC has awarded a total of $775,000, including this year”™s grants, over four years. Thirty-eight nonprofit applicants were reviewed for the latest round, with The Center for Family Justice”™s Pro Bono Civil Legal Center for Victims of Domestic Violence and Kids in Crisis”™ KidTalk program ultimately receiving the awards.
CFJ”™s Pro Bono Civil Legal Center will provide a minimum of 100 victims of domestic violence in Greater Bridgeport with free legal representation in civil court on matters related to restraining orders, divorce, division of marital assets, and child custody/child support.
A partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of Greenwich, KIC”™s KidTalk will transform an after-school and summer recreation and character-building agency into a 24/7 resource addressing its children”™s mental health needs. Specifically, KidTalk will provide a masters-level clinician on site at the Club for 25 hours a week to provide confidential one-on-one crisis prevention and intervention counseling, responding to the needs of the members when they are there, their families, and the Club staff.
The two other finalists — Child Guidance Center of Southern Connecticut, headquartered in Stamford, and Norwalk Community College Foundation — were each awarded $7,500 general operating grants.
