Taking Action to Solve the Teacher Shortage
Fourth annual Future Forward: Careers in Education to help people begin or further their careers as Teachers, Counselors, and Educational Leaders.
To create awareness of the satisfaction and financial benefits of working in the schools, help current educators further their careers, and support local schools’ recruiting efforts, Long Island University’s Hudson Graduate Centers (LIU Hudson) is sponsoring its fourth annual “Future Forward: Careers in Education” on Thursday, March 5 from 4:00 – 6:30 p.m.
Future Forward: Careers in Education is free and open to the public. It will be held on site at LIU Hudson, located on the campus of Purchase College in Purchase, NY.
The event begins at 4 with Exploring Opportunities, a panel conversation featuring district leaders discussing where education jobs are today, how hiring needs are shifting, and what candidates can do now to stay competitive.
From 5 to 6:30, attendees can speak with representatives of school districts recruiting for vacant positions. Last year, over 20 schools and districts participated and we expect the same this year.
· 20 school districts are participating, including Scarsdale, Nyack, Harrison, Mt. Vernon, Tarrytown, Washingtonville, Brewster Central, Port Chester-Rye, and more
· Positions available include Teacher, Educational Leader, School Counselor, School Psychologist, TA, and more.
· Faculty from LIU Hudson’s School of Education and School of Educational Leadership will answer questions and explain how to earn the necessary credentials and certification.
Attendees can register here. Districts or schools that would like a free table can email bruce.jonas@liu.edu or call (914) 831-2700.
