The Philip I. Eliasoph Open VISIONS Forum welcomes CNN Chief National Security Analyst Jim Sciutto for an engaging and timely discussion titled “Reporting Foreign Affairs: How Does It Impact the USA?” on Monday, March 16, at 7:30 p.m. in the Dolan School of Business Event Hall.
Jim Sciutto, anchor of The Brief with Jim Sciutto, reports on and analyzes all aspects of U.S. national security, including foreign policy, the military, the intelligence community, and the State Department. In this program, Sciutto will examine how foreign policy, national security, and international affairs shape life in the U.S., offering timely insight into the evolving global order and America’s role within it.
Throughout his career, Jim Sciutto has reported from more than 50 countries across the globe, including dozens of assignments from inside Iraq, Afghanistan, and Iran, as well as multiple assignments in Ukraine and the Middle East. Sciutto is the author of four books, including the New York Times Bestseller, The Return of Great Powers: Russia, China, and the Next World War, published in 2024 by Dutton Books, which examines the breakdown of a decades-old international order among the world’s strongest powers. Among the honors Sciutto’s work has earned are the duPont-Colombia Award, Emmy Awards, the Edward R. Murrow Award, the George Polk Award, and the White House Correspondence Association’s Merriman Smith Award for excellence in presidential coverage.
The Philip I. Eliasoph Open VISIONS Forum is dedicated to presenting leading voices in politics, journalism, business, science, and the arts to foster informed dialogue and civic engagement. This event continues the Forum’s longstanding tradition of bringing nationally recognized thought leaders to campus for meaningful public conversation.
