Join the Politics Department in celebrating the book launch of Dr. Gayle Alberda’s book, Early Voting’s Impact on U.S. Local Elections. Early voting is often promoted as a solution to low voter turnout in the United States. But is convenience enough to increase participation, especially in local elections? Dr. Alberda discusses the limits of early voting and highlights the powerful role of electoral competition in shaping local voter turnout.

Gayle Alberda, PhD, is director of Fairfield University’s Master of Public Administration program, and associate professor of politics. With extensive experience as a campaign strategist, Dr. Alberda is an expert in U.S. political behavior, campaigns, and elections. She frequently serves as a political analyst, providing commentary on local, state, and national politics across print and broadcast media outlets worldwide.
