Connecticut’s jobless woes continued in October as the state unemployment rate increased to 9 percent, according to data released Nov. 19.
Private sector employers located in Connecticut added 1,100 jobs in October, with the unemployment rate rising a tenth of a percentage point from September.
Net private sector employment was slightly lower in October than it was a year ago, representing a troubling trend, said Andy Condon of the state Department of Labor (DOL).
“With October’s results, we are, for the first time, showing year-over-year declines in job levels,” said Condon, research director of the state DOL, in a statement.
However, Condon said revisions would likely show as many as 8,000 to 9,000 more jobs in Connecticut than currently indicated by the data.
