Three Hudson Valley hospitals will be receiving a total of $23,249,381 in state funding primarily for improving their information technology capabilities. The funds are part of more than $300 million in new state funding for 22 projects at health care facilities in New York.
According to State Department of Health Commissioner James McDonald, “With these investments, we are focused on developing safe, reliable and connected patient-centered care. By expanding data capabilities and improving cybersecurity defenses, we’re enhancing clinical decision making across the state’s health care network.”
Blythedale Children’s Hospital in Valhalla is receiving $1,200,000 to be spent on electronic records systems along with patient entertainment and education.
St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Yonkers is receiving $19,565,995 for an electronic health records system.
Westchester Ellenville Hospital, Inc., in Ulster County is receiving $2,483,386 for information technology (IT) enhancements including improvements to the electronic health records system.
“By modernizing our hospitals’ IT infrastructure and protecting patients’ information, we’re strengthening the foundation of health care in New York State,” Gov. Kathy Hochul said. “These investments will help ensure that hospitals have the tools they need to safeguard patient data, expand telehealth services and deliver a healthier future for all New Yorkers.”
