Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Oct. 31 the launch of a web-based job bank for state employers and job-seekers, dubbed “Jobs Express.”
With some 42,300 job openings listed with the state job bank, including 1,681 in the Hudson Valley and 22,600 in New York City, Cuomo said he is hopeful the centralized database will act as a clearinghouse for information about employment opportunities.
The website contains all of the openings that have been listed with the job bank and sorts them by region and industry. The site also contains tips on resume writing and interview techniques, in addition to having an electronic job-matching tool known as Skills Matching and Referral Technology, or SMART.
Jobs Express will be monitored and updated daily by the state Labor Department to include new postings and can be accessed at http://www.labor.ny.gov/jobs/regional/shtm.
