An Armonk finance firm was allegedly ripped off for $100,000 last year by a local car repair business.
Trinity Private Capital LLC accused Armonk Garage Inc. of deceptive acts and practices, in a complaint filed on April 4 in Westchester Supreme Court.
Armonk Garage, as well as a gas station and convenience store, is on Main Street at the edge of the commercial district. It was organized by Robert Porpora in 2015, according to a state business record. Porpora is not named as a defendant or referred to in the lawsuit.
Trinity Private Capital is in an office building across the street. It was organized by Peter B. Freund in 2017.
The lawsuit does not describe Trinity’s business. But a Peter B. Freund is a former president of Trinity Packaging Corp. at the same address, president of Trinity Baseball Holdings, the owner of several minor league baseball teams, and a minority owner of the New York Yankees.
Trinity Private Capital says it has been a loyal customer of Armonk Garage for about 35 years. It owns 15 automobiles, including eight or nine older vehicles that need a lot of service.
Given the long-standing relationship and frequent need for car maintenance and repairs, the complaint states, Trinity allowed Armonk Garage to keep its American Express credit card on file, trusting that the garage would use the card for repairs and service work actually performed.
But when Trinity reviewed its American Express Account, it discovered charges for work that was neither approved nor performed last year, according to the complaint.
Trinity had approved 37 invoices but the credit card was charged 86 times. The extra 49 charges totaled $95,047, according to the complaint, and another $4,697 in unauthorized charges have been found in 2025.
Armonk Garage admitted that the overcharges were improper and promised to refund the credit card, the complaint states, but has yet to reimburse Trinity.
Trinity is demanding at least $100,000 for breach of contract and unjust enrichment, and $100,000 plus treble damages for deceptive acts.
Porpora did not reply to an email asking for his side of the story.
