After decades of commercial building in New York City, Guy DiNapoli and sons Joseph and Steven DiNapoli launched Essential Builders of Elmsford in 2020.
Five years on, and not to be outdone, Guy’s wife, Angela DiNapoli, has just inaugurated a sister company, Essential Cleaners, which she herself operates. Two “essential” family businesses, to be sure.
“…The same clients who trust us via Essential Builders to build their properties can now also count on us to keep their spaces sparkling clean,” Angela DiNapoli told the Westfair Business Journal. She went on to explain how every build, renovation or remodel leaves debris and dust behind, so clients were always asking if Essential Builders knew of a great cleaning company. “So now, we do – Essential Cleaners,” she said.
The Essential Cleaners “menu” is impressive, offering a wide array of services, including reliable handymen to carry out anything from minor repairs to general maintenance, all of which will help owners keep their properties in pristine condition.
Asked about how easy it was to launch a new business at this time, DiNapoli said a definite advantage had been leveraging the success of an existing company. She said that their established network and industry experience had made it significantly easier to get the new business off the ground.
“We’re confident in the specialists that have supported Essential Builders to help shape the foundation of the new cleaning business. Once we’re already in someone’s home – whether it be building it, cleaning it or fixing it – it’s easy to add on new services along the way, since we already have a well-seasoned team that’s ready to go.”
We posited that Westchester and Fairfield counties already enjoy a good number of specialty cleaners and wondered what new services or angles Essential Cleaners expected or hoped to bring to the market. DiNapoli replied that as a family-operated business, what truly set Essential Cleaners apart was the genuine care shown to clients.
“To us, you’re not just a client; you are a part of our extended family. Our commitment goes beyond cleaning. We focus on building trust and providing a truly personalized experience, something that you simply don’t find with larger corporations.”
And she added that what makes Essential Cleaners unique is its integration of personalized handyman services in addition to cleaning services. “‘Clean and handy’ is our mantra internally,” DiNapoli said. “Small jobs dig deep roots, and it’s small jobs that most people need nowadays, given home prices and interest rates. Families in the tristate currently sit at the top end of the spectrum in terms of maximizing minimal living space and turning their house into the home they need, given the current climate of work and life.”
And she added that the trust Essential Cleaners hopes to build with its cleaning clients would always translate into being the helpful “home ally” that everybody looks for when it comes to projects that are just a small amount above their area of expertise or the tools they might own in their garage.
Meanwhile, yet another feature the new company is working to introduce is event cleaning services to support clients during holiday parties and other events.
“Our mission is to be your trusted partner through every phase of your journey, providing reliable support where you need it most.”
On the all-important issue of business costs, DiNapoli said the new company was created with efficiency in mind.
“Since Essential Cleaners is a sister company to Essential Builders, we were able to streamline many of our startup expenses. For example, several of our back-office and customer service team members transitioned over in lateral roles, allowing us to maintain consistency and reduce overhead.”
And future growth? DiNapoli said she believed Essential’s residential specialty cleaning services, such as post-renovation cleaning, move-in/move-out cleaning and pre-listing cleaning would become key drivers.
“As we continue to scale, we’re confident that our approach will allow us to maintain high-quality service while expanding our footprint across neighboring regions.”
