Tarrytown-based Westcon Group is expanding its European business. The company said on July 13 that it is buying privately-owned German firm Entrada Kommunikations GmbH.
Westcon Group, which is owned by South African telecom and IT giant Datatec, is a global distributor of technology products in the areas of security, data center, convergence and networking.
Westcon has some 2,200 employees worldwide with a significant presence in Westchester and has annual sales of some $3 billion, according to Craig Librett, company spokesperson. With annual revenues of more than $90 million, Entrada is the second-largest distributor of data security products in Germany.
“As the largest economy in Europe ”“ and the fifth largest in the world ”“ the German market represents a significant opportunity for us,” said Westcon Group CEO Dean Douglas. “As Entrada is one of the largest security distributors in Germany, the acquisition gives our European security business a significant presence in this key market.”
