One of the area’s most important airports has had a good week.
On Feb 20 the Connecticut Airport Authority (CAA) announced that Bradley International Airport will now offer seasonal service to Coastal Carolina Regional Airport in New Bern, North Carolina. Starting May 24 Breeze Airways will begin offering flights between the two airports.
The flights will operate on Friday and Monday for Memorial Day Weekend, and then switch to Thursdays and Sundays.
“We are thrilled with Breeze Airways’ growing footprint at Bradley International Airport and their addition of new nonstop service to New Bern,” said Kevin A. Dillon, the Connecticut Airport Authority Executive Director in a press release. “As the airline approaches its third anniversary at Bradley International Airport, we very much appreciate their continued partnership and look forward to the launch of the many exciting destinations.”
Days later on Feb 22 the CAA also announced that the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Terminal Program will provide a $5.4 million grant for the construction of a checked bag security inspection facility.
The $151 million, 80,000 square foot facility is already under construction will provide space for Transportation Security Administration to perform the screening of checked luggage which is currently performed in the airport’s ticketing area.
