Sikorsky, the Stratford-based aircraft manufacturer, announced this month it has appointed Malaysian-based Mycopter Aviation Services to become the first customer support center in Southeast Asia for its line of S-76 medium-size commercial helicopters.
The support center will be based out of Mycopter’s facility at Subang Airport in Malaysia. Sikorsky said it flies about 50 S-76 aircraft in Southeast Asia. Customers in the region will also have the opportunity to flight-test Sikorsky’s latest S-76D helicopter, which will be on display at Langkawi International Maritime & Aerospace Exhibition in Langkawi, Malaysia.
“Sikorsky is committed to bringing customer support services closer to operators of S-76 helicopters across Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Brunei and Singapore,” said Shawn Cornell, Sikorsky Southeast Asia general manager, in a statement. “As the newest authorized service provider within Sikorsky”™s growing S-76 global support network, MyCopter Aviation has completed the required maintenance training for all S-76 variants and is committed to Sikorsky”™s high standards for customer support.”
Mycopter Aviation Services is a Malysian-owned aviation maintenance and repair service company. Sikorsky said it is introducing the new S-76D helipcopter in Southeast Asia to fill emerging roles for rotary wing aircraft in the offshore oil, search and rescue, and emergency medical services mission categories.
