Employees from Stamford-based First County Bank chose Liberation Programs as this year”™s recipient of donations collected during its annual holiday party. Items gathered ”“ all from Liberation Programs”™ wish list ”“ included diapers, formula, new bath towels, new clothing for children and adults and personal care items.
The collection netted enough goods to fill one and a half SUVs, according to a Liberation Programs/First County Bank press release.
Donated items will be distributed to clients in both of Liberations”™ long-term residential substance abuse treatment programs. In Norwalk, the Families in Recovery Program serves up to 50 pregnant or parenting women a year, also providing special services for children since mothers can bring two children up to age 10 into the program with them. Liberation House in Stamford provides residential treatment services to 65 men at a time.
According to Maggie Young, Liberation Program”™s director of residential programs, “Addiction can and does break families apart, leaving people feeling unworthy and ungrateful. But because of community support like this, the women and men in our programs have an opportunity to realize that other people care about them, that they do matter. We are very grateful to First County Bank employees for their generosity and compassion.”
The Missions Board of First Congregational Church have been giving to this wonderful program. Congratulations on your outstanding GIVING. Keep up the good work.
