Stovall to Head Connecticut Bar Association ethics committee
Brideport-based Pullman & Comley attorney Marcy Tench Stovall was appointed chairwoman of the Connecticut Bar Association Standing Committee on Professional Ethics.
The committee helps Connecticut attorneys interpret the rules of conduct and propose revisions to the rules committee of the Superior Court.
Stovall is a member of Pullman & Comley”™s professional liability practice group. She is also a member of the National Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers and has served on the CBA”™s professional ethics committee since 2000.
BlumShapiro Golf Classic provides college scholarships
BlumShapiro, with offices in Shelton, West Hartford and throughout New England, sponsored the BlumShapiro Golf Classic to benefit the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Fund for students pursuing business degrees. The sold-out tournament was held at the New Haven Country Club. All scholarships were matched by a donation from the BlumShapiro Foundation.

Picture That seeks art
Picture That L.L.C. is purchasing art for several inpatient and outpatient health care facilities. These facilities include radiology, urgent care and pediatrics clinics. Burke Rehabilitation Center appoints major gifts director
Ridgefield resident Ethel Geisinger was appointed director of major gifts in the development department at Burke Rehabilitation Center in Westchester County, N.Y. Geisinger will raise money to support The Burke Rehabilitation Hospital and Burke Medical Research Institute.
Prior to joining Burke, Geisinger served as director of development for the French American School of New York and earlier as director of annual giving for the Convent of Sacred Heart in Greenwich.
Berkshire Hathaway agents ranked among top 50
Candace Adams, president and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices New England Properties, with offices in Greenwich and Stamford, announced 13 of its Realtors and one Realtor group in Glastonbury ranked in “2014 Best Real Estate Agents in America.” The Wall Street Journal and RealTrends, a real estate brokerage analysis firm, compiled the list.

Newman”™s Own Foundation helps WSHU public radio
Westport-based Newman”™s Own Foundation raised more than $227,000 for WSHU Public Radio recently. The foundation provided a $75,000 challenge grant to WSHU and suggested that WSHU leverage the donation two-for-one. Other community members collectively matched the $75,000 grant, including Netherby Advisors, The Kathryn P. Koslow Center for Marriage and Family Therapy, Elizabeth Stauderman, Marianne Crew, Leadership Circle members from Setauket, Cindy Knuth, Dennis and Maureen Jackson, an unnamed Long Island, N.Y., foundation, WoodenBoat Magazine, Lime Rock Park, Robinson + Cole, the Broadcast Society Member Fund and the Leadership Circle Member Fund. An additional $76,353 was donated by WSHU listeners.
Crisis center awarded $10,000
Fairfield County Community Foundation”™s Fund for Women and Girls granted $10,000 to The Center for Sexual Assault Crisis Counseling and Education to offer a “girls circle” program in lower Fairfield County.
The girls circle is a support group developed by the One Circle Foundation offering guidance to girls ages 9-18. The center”™s crisis counselors will use the grant to create support groups in county middle and high schools.
Camastro sponsors charity tourney
Robert Camastro, owner of Mercedes-Benz Danbury, is sponsoring the 2014 Mercedes-Benz Dealer Championship charity golf tournament Aug. 11 at the Ridgewood Country Club in Danbury.
All proceeds are to benefit Bethel-based Ability Beyond, which services more than 2,400 individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities in Connecticut and New York.

AmeriCares responds to West Africa Ebola outbreak
Stamford-based AmeriCares is sending emergency medical aid to help fight West Africa”™s Ebola outbreak, including protective equipment for workers.
AmeriCares has three new shipments underway, including an emergency air shipment to restock hospitals and clinics in Liberia. The 2,700-pound delivery includes 20,000 pairs of gloves, 20,000 surgical masks and 60,000 surgical caps, among other supplies. Shipments of intravenous fluids to help approximately 3,000 patients are also headed to Liberia and Sierra Leone.

First County Bank Foundation supports mental health group
The Child Guidance Center of South Connecticut, a nonprofit, mental-health outpatient center for children and adolescents, was awarded a $12,000 grant from the First County Bank Foundation to support Emergency Mobile Psychiatric Services in Stamford, Greenwich, Darien and New Canaan.
EMPS targets high-risk children, providing assessment and crisis stabilization services.
Nathaniel Witherell achieves five-star rating
Greenwich-based Nathaniel Witherell at 70 Parsonage Road, the town”™s rehabilitation and skilled nursing center, received a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. This is the seventh consecutive year the Witherell earned the five-star rating. Nathaniel Witherell was recognized as “one of the best nursing homes in Connecticut” by U.S. News & World Report magazine.
