Gov. Dannel P. Malloy named Stamford Mayor Michael Pavia’s economic development director and four others to work with the Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT) on redeveloping the Stamford Transportation Center’s parking garage.
DOT recently proposed that a new garage be built potentially up to a quarter mile from the Metro North stop, with the current garage adjacent to the station.
“Whatever decision is made by the commissioner on the redevelopment of the Stamford Transportation Center parking garage site, it needs to reflect both the state’s long term transportation goals as well as the city’s and commuting public’s priorities,” Malloy said, in a prepared statement. “In addition to the suggestions and comments that we are inviting the general public to submit, these five stakeholders will ensure that local voices are heard while these important decisions are being made.”
Assigned to advise DOT Commissioner James Redeker were:
- Laure Aubuchon, director of Stamford’s office of economic development under Pavia;
- Curtis Battles, founder of New Canaan Advisors L.L.C. in Stamford, with experience on the redevelopment of Grand Central Terminal and the World Trade Center;
- David Hendricks, CFO of New York City-based LiveIntent and a member of the Connecticut Rail Commuter Council;
- Joseph McGee, vice president of public policy and programs for the Business Council of Fairfield County in Stamford; and
- Randall Skigen, president of the Stamford Board of Representatives and deputy mayor.
