After completing a $68 billion acquisition of Wyeth last month, Pfizer Inc. committed to keeping Wyeth”™s massive research and production laboratory in Pearl River although it will move some functions to other Pfizer labs.
Pfizer plans to keep its research lab in Groton, Conn., intact, while moving 1,400 jobs there from a nearby lab in New London that is slated for closure.
Pfizer indicated the subsequent restructuring moves will be accompanied by job cuts without immediately providing additional details. Pfizer also plans to shut down labs in several other locations, including in Clinton County, N.Y., Princeton, N.J., and North Carolina.
