L-1 Identity Solutions parted ways with marquee director Louis Freeh, a former FBI chief who joined L-1”™s board in July 2006.
Freeh did not indicate why he is resigning from the board. L-1 stated there was no disagreement between Freeh and the Stamford-based company.
Freeh was director of the FBI from 1993 to 2001, then general counsel of MBNA Corp. through last year.
L-1”™s systems are used to verify people”™s identity and to produce tamper-resistant documents such as passports. In August the company received an $11 million contract to produce driver”™s licenses for the state of Montana.
The company”™s board includes former CIA director George Tenet and Adm. James Loy, a former U.S. Coast Guard commandant.
