Attorney General George Jepsen joined the nursing home workers strike July 16.
The HealthBridge Management L.L.C. employees went on strike July 3 after claiming the company failed to negotiate contract changes with their union, the New England Health Care Employees Union, District 1199.
The National Labor Relations Board issued a federal complaint July 6, according to the Associated Press.
More than 500 workers have been picketing for two weeks at the company”™s locations in Danbury, Stamford, Newington, Milford and Westport. Jepsen joined at four locations to show his support.
“The Attorney General has a responsibility to represent the broader public interest,” said Susan E. Kinsman, director of communications at the Office of the Attorney General, in a prepared statement. “His participation today was aimed at drawing attention to important issues in hopes of expediting resolution of the conflict.”
The NLRB hearing is scheduled for Sept. 10 in Hartford.
