A 24-year-old employee of the Nordstrom department store at The Westchester in White Plains was being held on charges that he stole more than $243,000 worth of merchandise in a scheme that lasted for four months, the White Plains Police Department reported. Police identified the individual as Dominic Bascoe.
Police say that the alleged larceny scheme was uncovered as the result of a collaborative effort between the White Plains Police Department’s Detective Division and Nordstrom Asset Protection. The investigation began last March 18. It was on that date that Nordstrom’s Asset Protection team reported an internal theft to the White Plains police. Surveillance footage had captured an employee, who was identified as Bascoe, with high-end women’s fragrances and beauty products stashed in bags. He then allegedly took them outside the building’s loading dock on Paulding Street. Bascoe was subsequently observed retrieving the items from the loading dock and putting them in his personal vehicle.

According to the White Plains Police Department, one of their detectives and senior investigators from Nordstrom’s employee theft detection unit conducted an extensive audit of store records and surveillance materials. The police said the investigation uncovered a persistent pattern of theft dating from Dec. 5, 2025. It is alleged that over the course of four months, Bascoe orchestrated 32 separate incidents in which he took merchandise from the store, removing approximately 82 boxes of luxury items that included Dior fragrances and premium beauty creams.
“This arrest is the result of outstanding investigative work and a strong public-private partnership with Nordstrom’s security team,” said White Plains Public Safety Commissioner Wade C. Hardy. “We remain committed to protecting our local business community and ensuring that those who exploit their positions of trust are held accountable.”
Police say that Bascoe attempted to evade authorities and for a period of time was not in touch with his employer and did not show up for work. Investigators tracked his vehicle using facilities of the Westchester County Police. On April 25, the Westchester County Police Department conducted a targeted traffic stop, leading to Bascoe’s apprehension.
Bascoe was then transported to White Plains Police Headquarters where he was booked, processing and held for a court appearance.
