
Amateur and professional riders of all ages are once again be on hand for the Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Shows that began May 5 and run through Sunday, May 10, and May 12 through 17.
The event, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, spotlights aesthetic hunter and timed, athletic jumper competitions featuring an array of international riders, including six-time Olympian, two-time Olympic gold medalist (and Brewster resident) McLain Ward; fellow American Katie Dinan, who recently took the bronze medal in the 2026 Longines FEI World Cup Jumping Final in Fort Worth, Texas; Brazil’s Rodrigo Pessoa; Israel’s Daniel Bluman; Switzerland’s Beat Mändi and Egypt’s Nayel Nasser.
The horse shows are about more than just equine grace, however. They’re also a chance to enjoy food, fashion, fun and art amid the undulating verdure of North Salem.
Weekend highlights include:
- Saturday May 9 — Face painting, pony rides, arts and crafts with the North Salem Historical Society, SPCA of Westchester dog adoptions and an ice cream party with Pegasus Therapeutic Riding;
- Sunday, May 10 — Face painting, pony rides, arts and crafts with the North Salem Historical Society, plus the $125,000 Old Salem Farm Grand Prix Presented by J.P. Morgan Private Bank;
- Saturday, May 16 — Face painting, pony rides, arts and crafts with the North Salem Historical Society, A New Chance Animal Rescue dog adoptions,and an ice cream party with the Wolf Conservation Center;
- Sunday, May 17 — Face painting, pony rides, arts and crafts with the North Salem Historical Society and a visit from the Animal Embassy, plus the $225,000 Empire State Grand Prix Presented by Old Salem Farm. McLain Ward is the defending champion in this event.
This year, Old Salem Farm will also showcase equine-inspired art by sculptor Precious Eboigbodin and photographer Drew Doggett. A portion of the proceeds from Doggett’s display and select private commissions will go to support the New Canaan Mounted Troop.
