
The national neighborhood grocery store chain Trader Joe’s plans to add two more stores in Greater Fairfield and New Haven county in the near future. That would bring the total number of stores in the state to 11.
According to the company’s website, it will open stores at 801 Bridgeport Ave. in Shelton and at 46 Skiff St. in Hamden. No exact dates were given. It is part of a nationwide expansion that has been includes 39 new stores in several states that have been announced since December 2024.
“At Trader Joe’s in Shelton, we see ourselves as your neighborhood grocery store,” according to a statement on the company website. “Step inside and you’ll find unconventional and interesting products in the Trader Joe’s label like Mandarin Orange Chicken and Cold Brew Coffee Concentrate, as well as everyday basics like milk, eggs, meat, bakery items, and fresh produce.
“We are a good source for great cheese, and we offer a vibrant selection of fresh flowers. Most importantly, we offer all of our delicious, quality products at the very best prices. We’re happy to be part of your community, and proud to offer you unique products and an exceptional shopping experience, every day.”
