WOODBRIDGE – The green chemistry company P2 Science has been named to Fast Company’s list of the World’s Most Innovative Companies of 2025 and the second top company in the manufacturing sector.
The business magazine’s list this year shines a spotlight on businesses that are shaping industry and culture through their innovations to set new standards and achieve remarkable milestones in all sectors of the economy. Alongside the World’s 50 Most Innovative Companies, Fast Company recognizes 609 organizations across 58 sectors and regions.
“This year, we recognize companies that are harnessing AI in deep and meaningful ways, brands that are turning customers into ‘superfans’ by overdelivering for them, and challengers that are introducing bold ideas and vital competition to their industries,” said Fast Company editor-in-chief Brendan Vaughan. “At a time when the world is rapidly shifting, these companies are charting the way forward.”
P2 CEO Oihana Elizalde was appreciative of the company being included in the top 50 list.

Elizalde thanked the innovative and hardworking team in Connecticut and throughout the U.S. for achieving the honor. P2 Science comes out of Yale’s Center for Green Chemistry and Green Engineering.
Using the 12 Principles of Green Chemistry as its foundation, P2 invents chemical transformation technologies and novel products inspired by nature’s chemistry, utilizing abundant renewable materials as feedstocks. P2’s approach aims to detoxify, “defossilize,” and decarbonize ingredients and materials that consumers interact with daily.
It manufactures Citropol®, which is used as ingredients for beauty and personal care. P2’s patented PICE® (Process Intensified Continuous Etherification) reactors at their manufacturing site in Naugatuck are designed specifically to achieve next-level innovations with plant-based raw materials.
In September 2024, P2 launched a new globally compliant high molecular weight liquid polymer for cosmetics and personal care, Citropol® DE-4. The only molecule of its kind in the market today, Citropol® DE-4 outperforms heavy silicones or ethoxylated esters, and offers a renewable, non-petrochemical, and palm-free alternative to beauty brands and consumers. It is derived from upcycled terpenes extracted from managed forests as a side stream of the pulp and paper industry.
