Ceasefire talks: The Israeli cabinet will vote on a ceasefire deal in Lebanon on Tuesday, Benjamin Netanyahu’s spokesperson told CNN, after a source familiar with the matter said the Israeli prime minister had approved the plan “in principle.” Netanyahu signaled his potential approval for the emerging ceasefire with Hezbollah during a security consultation with Israeli officials Sunday night, the source said. On Monday, his spokesperson told CNN the Israeli cabinet will vote on the proposed deal on Tuesday. Israel still has reservations over some details of the agreement, which were expected to be transmitted to the Lebanese government on Monday, the source said.
Thanksgiving travel: An estimated 80 million Americans are expected to travel this Thanksgiving week, breaking a record. The travel season is facing weather-related problems on as snow and rainstorms have hit the East and West coasts. Supreme Court: The US Supreme Court declined Monday to hear a challenge from major tobacco companies to the Food and Drug Administration’s requirement that they place graphic health warnings on cigarette packages and in advertisements. The lawsuit pertains to a FDA rule issued in 2020 that requires health warnings on cigarette packages and in advertisements.
Among the 11 text-and-image graphics created by the agency for compliance with the rule is one that depicts a human lung and reads, “WARNING: Tobacco smoke causes fatal lung disease in nonsmokers.”
Menendez brothers: A judge will decide on Monday whether new evidence warrants another look at the convictions of Erik and Lyle Menendez in the murders of their parents more than 30 years ago. The brothers were found guilty of first-degree murder in the killings of José and Kitty Menendez in 1989 and sentenced to life in prison without parole. The defense argued the Menendez brothers murdered their parents because of sexual abuse by their father. The new evidence could possibly lead to the release of the two brothers.
Plane crash: A DHL cargo plane trying to land at an airport in Lithuania’s capital skidded into a house Monday morning, killing a Spanish crew member. A surveillance video showed the plane descending normally as it approached the airport before sunrise, and then exploding into a huge ball of fire behind a building. The moment of impact could not be seen in the video.
