The WorkPlace, based in Bridgeport, announced the opening of its 2024 Connecticut Youth Employment Program on March 19.
Anybody in Southwestern Connecticut ages 14 to 24 seeking summer employment is encouraged to apply. Those who are accepted will be paired with an employer who will provide 20 hours of work per week at the current minimum wage of $15.69 per hour, for seven weeks.
The program is designed to provide summer wages, workforce skills, and valuable training to those seeking experience to improve future work prospects across 20 municipalities served by The WorkPlace, which includes most of lower Fairfield County.
Applicants will be interviewed by WorkPlace staff and must apply online by 4pm on April 20 using the portal at https://www.workplace.org/careerhub/.
The WorkPlace is also seeking additional employers for the program, and encourages businesses and community agencies interested in hiring motivated youth workers for the summer to reach out directly to staff by either emailing gmontes@workplace.org or calling 203-416-8487.
