If you thought the Oscar fashions that paraded the champagne-colored carpet (which was inspired by The Met Gala and a definite miss) were a case of everything everywhere all at once, you would be right. The looks suggested putting it all out there when less truly might”™ve been more.
One appearance that balanced making a statement with discernment was that of Emmy Award-winning actress Shohreh Aghdashloo. Christian Siriano”™s black-and-white “Woman Life Freedom” gown ”“ in support of the women in the actress”™ native Iran ”“ was a model of sculpted drapery, the black bodice and train both cocooning and offsetting the feminine, white, columnar silhouette. The long black gloves were a great complement for a white gown that had other black accents. (As opposed to the long black gloves that accompanied the white goddess gown Catherine, Princess of Wales, wore to the BAFTAs, which just looked jarring.)
Aghdashloo”™s outfit was polished by a pair of Alex Soldier”™s Gold Swan White Topaz and Diamond Earrings ($5,500), handcrafted in New York City from responsibly sourced materials to resemble the head and neck of a swan and “dedicated to every woman who is in love.”
