The Fairfield County Business Collaborative for Education Equity, a coalition of six prominent businesses teaming with Fairfield County”™s Community Foundation (FCCF), announced its first round of grant funding with $300,000 allocated to seven local nonprofits focused on eliminating educational disparities.
The first funding endeavor will provide $50,000 grants to Bridgeport Prospers/United Way of Coastal Fairfield County, Carver Foundation of Norwalk, Children”™s Learning Centers of Fairfield County, Norwalk Community College Foundation and Person-to-Person. In addition, $25,000 grants will be provided to Domus Kids and Horizons Bridgeport
The coalition was established last August as a partnership with FCCF and Bank of America, First County Bank, Lapine Associates, Pitney Bowes, Synchrony, Tudor Foundation and Xerox.
“The Covid-19 pandemic laid bare vast disparities that have long existed in our region, among them the educational inequities that exist for our youngest residents and students who represent the future of Fairfield County,” said Juanita James, FCCF president and CEO, who added the input from the six businesses is “an important step towards advancing lasting solutions that will give children an opportunity to grow, learn, and stay in Fairfield County.”
