Trumbull’s Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a special public hearing on July 19 to discuss the Westfield Trumbull mall’s proposal to add 290 apartments on its property at 5065 Main St.
The 6:30 p.m. meeting was set for that date at the request of Trumbull Shopping Center No. 2 LLC and WEACT Houses LLC, which are applying for an amendment to change the zoning from a business commercial district to a mixed-use zone. The mall had originally sought 580 units.
According to a Westfield statement, “By broadening development opportunities available to Westfield, the property can far exceed its current economic contribution to Trumbull, while also bringing new, exciting offerings to the town. This would include residential developments that were previously not possible, without deviation from current regulations.”
Should the proposal win P&Z approval, it would move to Trumbull’s Land Use department.
