Hermès to open in Greenwich
Hermès of Paris Inc. is opening a store at the former location of Best & Co. in Greenwich.
The retailer is leasing 5,000 square feet of space at 289 Greenwich Ave. from the Willett Cos. The deal was brokered by Stamford-based RHYS.
“The addition of a Hermès of Paris store to Greenwich Avenue is very exciting,” said Dominick Musilli, executive vice president of RHYS. “This addition, along with Apple, Ralph Lauren and a few others in recent years, further legitimizes Greenwich as a market of choice by some of the finest national and international retailers in the world. I am very optimistic that others will follow suit and open new stores on the avenue.”
Grubb & Ellis folds into NKF
After declaring itself bankrupt, commercial real estate broker Grubb & Ellis agreed to a deal to be acquired by New York City-based BGC Partners Inc., which last year acquired Newmark Knight Frank, which likewise brokers property leases and sales.
Grubb & Ellis has its main local office in Stamford, Newmark Knight Frank in Greenwich.
Grubb & Ellis is the onetime owner of the 1.3 million square foot Matrix Corporate Center in Danbury.
Aircastle renews in Stamford
Aircastle Ltd. renewed a lease for 19,000 square feet of space at 300 First Stamford Place in Stamford.
The 810,000 square-foot First Stamford Place complex is owned by Malkin Properties, whose controlling entity Empire State Realty Trust Inc. last month filed for an initial public offering of stock.
Aircastle leases jets to passenger and cargo carriers.
Station Eats expands
New Canaan-based Station Eats opened a second grass-fed burger restaurant 3 Landmark Square in Stamford.
In addition to burgers, the company serves nitrate- and nitrite-free hot dogs, sloppy joes, organic fries and milkshakes, including some spiked with liquors like Kahlua. Wine and beer are also served.
Abbey Road refinances buildings
Westport-based Abbey Road Advisors reportedly refinanced $14.4 million in debt on two Fairfield office buildings, with Goedecke & Co. L.L.C. arranging the package from Sovereign Bank.
According to a report in CoStar, the deal covers 777 Commerce Drive, which totals more than 60,000 square feet; and 1375 Kings Highway, which has about 15,000 square feet.
G&B settles into Stratford
G&B Shellfish Farm Inc. signed a lease for 3,000 square feet at 10 Hancock St. in Stratford.
G&B is one of a dozen fish wholesalers the Connecticut Department of Agriculture lists in Fairfield County. Fairfield-based Angel Commercial L.L.C. represented both the tenant and landlord.
Hair Fairies lands in Fairfield
Los Angeles-based Hair Fairies landed at 63 Unquowa Road in Fairfield, taking 1,200 square feet in the Galleria Building with plans to employ 10 people.
The chain provides head lice treatments, with the Fairfield location its first in a suburban environment. The Galleria Building is owned by Fischel Properties.
