Democrat Representative John Larson of Connecticut blasted Republicans who serve with him on the House Ways and Means Committee for killing his effort to require answers from Donald Trump and Elon Musk on the actions taken that could cripple Social Security. Larson demanded to know why Republicans refuse to require Musk to appear and testify about what he and his DOGE crews have already done to fire Social Security workers, close offices and may be planning to do to Social Security.
It has been reported that Musk’s people have gained access to sensitive data on Americans stored in Social Security computer files. It also has been reported that Musk’s people have been given access to computer software that would allow them to make changes to benefits paid to Social Security recipients or even entirely shut off payments.
Larson noted that Musk has called Social Security a Ponzi scheme. Republicans for many years have wanted to shut down Social Security as a government service and privatize it. Video of Rep. Larson speaking during a committee meeting is provided by CNN Newsource.
