Westchester Community College (WCC) accepted a sizable gift from the Muslim Journeys Bookshelf, a project of the National Endowment for the Humanities Bridging Cultures initiative. The gift came in the form of educational materials including 25 books, three films, and access to the Oxford Islamic Studies Online Database.
The intent is to help students learn more about Muslim history and culture within the United States and around the world. WCC was among 842 libraries and state humanities councils that received the materials through a special grant.
The Muslim Journeys Bookshelf is expected to fulfill the need and desire of those working toward American public trust and accessibility regarding information about Muslim beliefs and practices and the cultural heritage that’s identified with Islamic civilizations.
All of the educational institutions that received the Bookshelf can also apply for upcoming public programming grant opportunities.
