Manhattanville College trustees recently elected Don Callahan, a 1978 graduate of the college in Purchase, as their new board chairman. A Manhattanville trustee for 11 years, he succeeds Robert Hall, who had served as chairman since 2008.
Callahan is head of global operations and technology at Citigroup Inc., which he joined in 2007. He began his career at IBM Corp., where he rose to serve as director of strategy for IBM Japan. Callahan joined Morgan Stanley”™s equity division in 1993 and became head of business management. In 2006, he joined the senior management team at Credit Suisse, working in New York and Zurich.
A history major, Callahan was the second generation of his family to graduate from Manhattanville. His mother, Mary J. (O”™Connell) Callahan, was in the class of 1945. The board chairman”™s son, Peter, is in this year”™s graduating class.
Manhattanville College president Jon C. Strauss in the announcement said Callahan “is very versed on the challenges and opportunities that the college faces along with many other small private liberal arts institutions.”
Callahan also serves on the board of the American Red Cross of Greater New York and on the Metropolitan Museum of Art”™s business committee. He is a fellow at the Foreign Policy Association and serves on the British American Business International Advisory Board.
