Three Westchester hospitals were rated among the best statewide in U.S. News & World Report”™s 2016 rankings.
White Plains Hospital ranked 15th out of 222 hospitals in New York.
It rated as high performing in abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, colon cancer surgery, heart failure, lung cancer surgery, neurology and neurosurgery, and orthopedics. It ranked high in patient safety, “demonstrating commitment to reducing accidents and medical mistakes,” the publication said.
White Plains Hospital is a member of Montefiore Health System, whose main hospital in the Bronx was ranked sixth best in New York.
Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco and Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla tied for 19th.
Northern Westchester Hospital was rated as high performing in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, colon cancer surgery, heart failure and hip replacement.
Westchester Medical Center was high performing in cancer, nephrology, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and heart failure. It ranked 44th nationally in pediatric pulmonology.
U.S. News bases the scores on data that include survival, patient safety, nurse staffing and other factors.
