Paul Smadbeck, senior managing director of sales at Cushman & Wakefield, has been elected president of the board of directors for Friends of Karen. The nonprofit organization supports children battling cancer and other life-threatening illnesses and their families in the tri-state area. Smadbeck is a Westchester resident. Friends of Karen has locations in North Salem, New York City and Port Jefferson.
Smadbeck joined the board in April 1996. He is a published composer and is a trustee of the Heckscher Foundation for Children.
