Norwalk-headquartered Xerox (NASDAQ:XRX) has acknowledged that its subsidiary Xerox Business Solutions was the target of a cybersecurity attack.
In a press statement, the company said the incident was limited to its U.S. operations and the company was working with third-party cybersecurity experts to investigate and further secure its IT systems. The company added the incident had no impact on its corporate systems and operations.
While the company offered no specifics on the nature of the attack, the tech news site InfoSecurity reported the breach was a ransomware attack perpetrated by the Inc Ransom gang, which announced what it accomplished in a posting on X (formerly Twitter). Inc Ransom first appeared last July and has been responsible for ransomware extortion attacks on companies in multiple industries.
