The Business Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) of Westchester County recently presented Hall of Honor awards to the city of Yonkers and to Biomed Realty Trust Inc., and Biomed”™s tenant at The Landmark at Eastview, Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc.
At the 16th annual BOMA awards dinner in Tarrytown, Yonkers Mayor Philip A. Amicone accepted the award on behalf of the city, which was cited for redevelopment programs that include more than $3 billion in projected development.
BioMed Realty, a real estate investment trust (REIT) with headquarters in San Diego, owns and manages The Landmark at Eastview, the largest privately owned biotech, medical and pharmaceutical laboratory and office facility in the state. Biomed last month announced plans to build a 360,000-square-foot, $145 million lab and office complex on its 275-acre campus in the towns of Greenburgh and Mount Pleasant.
Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, a 19-year-old company with 440 employees, will be the prime tenant in the complex. The company develops drug candidates for the treatment of cancer, eye and inflammatory diseases.
Regeneron, which had considered a move to New Jersey before signing a 15-year lease with Biomed in December, received a $4 million grant from Empire State Development Corp. and $5 million in tax abatements from the Westchester County Industrial Development Agency.
