Using a new method for processing consumer rebates, DataMatrix Promotions of White Plains claims checks in hand 30 percent faster than other rebate firms can accomplish.
Jerry Weiss, DataMatrix”™s director of sales and marketing, sized up the approach without delving into lines of computer code: “The key is faster processing of rebates without any errors, using every bit of technology available.” He identified the company mission as enhancing a positive relationship between consumers, retailers and manufacturers.
Rebates put cash in consumers”™ hands, of course, but Weiss also identified them as providing a powerful business tool to reduce inventories.
Parent company DataMatrix is 20 years old, with a 10-year presence in the U.S. Its India arm historically and today is involved with software development, data processing and transcript digitization. DataMatrix Promotions employs six locally. DataMatrix has a staff of more than 300 in India.
Weiss offered eight tips for smoother, more efficient rebates, helpful for consumers, certainly, but also a tool for companies to know what potential pitfalls consumers face:
Ӣ Read all the terms and conditions; make note of the redemption and postmark timelines.
Ӣ Make a check list of all required documentation.
Ӣ If the bar code is required, ensure it is exactly what is asked for.
Ӣ Print legibly.
”¢ Make a copy of all materials. Write down the phone number and contact information of the rebate-processing center on the copy.
Ӣ Neatly assemble all documentation and wrap it in a plain piece of paper to keep all the pieces together and insert the packet in your mailing envelope.
Ӣ Check the mailing address on the envelope.
Ӣ Four weeks after submission of your rebate, you can contact the rebate redemption center for an update if you have not received any notification.
