Former NYC top cop joins C&W

New York City’s former police commissioner will join the private sector this month as president of risk management services at  Cushman & Wakefield Inc.

The privately held commerical real estate firm  today announced that Raymond W. Kelly, the longest-serving commissioner in New York Police Department history, will join Cushman & Wakefield March 24.

During his 12-year tenure as the city’s top cop under Mayor Michael Bloomberg, violent crimes decreased 40 percent in the city, Cushman & Wakefield officials noted. Kelly also globally expanded the department’s Intelligence Division to prevent potential terrorist attacks and created a Counterterrorism Bureau, the first in any municipal police department in the country.   

Cushman & Wakefield”™s newly formed Risk Management Services  group will offer clients tailored solutions to manage and mitigate risks around the world.  As its president, Kelly will focus on helping clients identify potential vulnerabilities and prepare for and manage risk across a number of critical areas.

In a50-year career in public service, Kelly also directed the International Police Force in Haiti; served as a vice president of Interpol from 1996-2000, and held federal posts as U.S. Customs commissioner and as undersecretary of enforcement at the U.S. Treasury Department.

Kelly in 1993 retired as a colonel in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves after 30 years of service, including a combat tour in Vietnam.
