Some 500 people gathered to “Celebrate Life, Celebrate Success, Celebrate Survivors” at the American Cancer Society”™s “diamond” luncheon May 30 at The Ritz-Carlton, Westchester in White Plains.
The society honored three cancer survivors: corporate honoree Elizabeth Bracken-Thompson of Croton-on-Hudson, executive vice president and partner at Thompson & Bender Inc. in Briarcliff Manor; and volunteer honorees Harold Debrovner of White Plains and Muffin Gleason Hamm of Mount Vernon.
Lee Goldberg, chief meteorologist for ABC 7 Eyewitness News was the master of ceremonies. Dr. Patricia Carrigan, an American Cancer Society ambassador cancer researcher, was the guest speaker. Carrigan has published a number of reports in medical journals and is currently focusing on identifying early detection biomarkers for pancreatic, colon and breast cancer.
Before the luncheon, guests built up their appetites with a shopping spree at a boutique of 45 specialty vendors.
