The ASPCA has announced plans to build a Hudson Valley facility that will address what the nonprofit described as “the complex needs of animal cruelty victims housed in shelters around the country.”
The new ASPCA Recovery and Rehabilitation Center is being envisioned as an approximately 50,000-square-foot facility that will offer behavioral and medical interventions to shelter, rehabilitate and rehome canine victims of cruelty.
The new center will also be used to facilitate studies on resolving behavioral problems in the four-legged victims of severe emotional and physical violence and neglect.
The location of the new facility has not yet been determined, but the ASPCA stated that it would “more than double its current capacity to care for the animals helped through the ASPCA’s partnership with the New York Police Department.”
