ANDRUS, the Yonkers nonprofit that provides area children and families with educational and social services, has named Christine Novak Micka vice president of institutional advancement, where she will be in charge of the nonprofit’s fundraising and marketing initiatives.
Micka, a lifelong Yonkers resident, previously served as director of development for the Greyston Foundation, which provides employment and other resources to impoverished city residents. She has also volunteered for the Carmel-based Ty Louis Campbell Foundation that funds research toward childhood cancers, Yonkers Partners in Education and the Casimir Pulaski Parent Teacher Association in Yonkers.
“The most exciting aspect of this collaboration is the opportunity to really make an impact and help give voice to at-risk youth and families,” she said.
ANDRUS began as the Andrus Children’s Home in 1928, and has since grown to include the Andrus Center for Learning and Innovation and the Andrus Sanctuary Institute, which provides trauma training to other organizations. It serves nearly 4,000 children and their families per year.
ANDRUS president and CEO Bryan R. Murphy said Micka’s prior nonprofit experience will help the organization to continue to grow.
“She also brings a rich perspective on philanthropy that fits well with our agency’s mission,” Murphy said.
