Turning up the volume on students’ voices has been taken to new heights this summer with a multiplatform anti-bullying campaign. The student-driven undertaking was launched in partnership with Norwalk Public Schools (NPS) and Norwalk Community Health Center (NCHC). Messaging can be found on billboards, Norwalk Transit buses and bus shelters throughout Norwalk. The campaign launched in early June and will continue through July.
Guided by Cork Factory Films Inc., professional videographers, the students drafted a series of messages and scripting ideas that were distilled into five videos and outdoor advertising. The campaign focuses on various aspects of bullying from students’ perspective and includes information on resources for information and help. Some 25 Brien McMahon High School students engaged in messaging appeared in the spots. The NCHC School-Based Health & Wellness Center at Brien McMahon High School opened in January 2024.
Funding for the project was made possible by a School-Based Health Alliance grant awarded to Norwalk Community Health Center Inc.
