The Orange County New York Arts Council in Goshen has announced the four local artists selected to receive grant funds as part of the 2025 Sustainable Arts Program, which is a seven-week professional development course open to the public aimed to provide essential guidance for a success in arts business and entrepreneurship. Led by diverse industry professionals, the program is designed to cultivate the long-term success of the local arts ecosystem and provide critical skills in arts organization, finance, governance, marketing and more. Upon completion of the course, grantees will be awarded between $1,000 to $5,000 to support their work in alignment with course learnings.
The 2025 Sustainable Art Program grant recipients are:
Alex Prizgintas, a cellist, author and historian from Orange County.
Corrine Beardsley, a sculptor based in Orange County.
Merry Mcloryd works with the viewer and the environment in surprising ways.
LotuZ is a multidisciplinary artist who uses her art to uplift marginalized voices and advocate for systemic change.
“The Sustainable Arts Program’s pilot year, last year, surprised us all with its success. The participants, both grant awardees and those not receiving funds came back with such positive feedback about the program saying they learned so much from our speakers,” said Todd Hulet, executive director of the Orange County NY Arts Council.
The Orange County NY Arts Council Sustainable Arts Program is administered by the Orange County NY Arts Council and funded through individual donations made to the arts council from donors and sponsors, including a generous gift from the Wesley-Krueger Family Foundation. Recipients are selected based on accessibility, diversity, need, feasibility, community engagement and artistic merit.
The Orange County NY Arts Council is a private, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to meeting the growing need for local arts advocacy and serving as a countywide arts resource. A diverse board of directors made up of community leaders, business leaders, arts enthusiasts and professional artists oversees the Arts Council. Many OCNYAC programs are designed and implemented by volunteers serving on various committees.
Orange County Arts Council supports and empowers artists, fosters diverse forms of expression, and promotes access to the arts through educational programs, cultural events, public projects and participation, all of which are integral to the economic development and collective well-being of the community.
